“Immigrant” is the perfect blend between Niu’s music journey in Boston and her traditional culture from Madagascar. You can totally see her sound grow from her first 3 projects “Something Niu” and “Niu Loko” and “Mm-Hmm”. The sound is a blend of electronic music but all the elements used whether that’s from the vocal techniques or rhythm, all are borrowed from her african heritage. This album redefines what World Music is today! Music which consists of multilingual lyrics paired with electronic sounds that still infuses traditional music.
